北極星–星星家位於花蓮市臨海文教區！它是一幢斜頂、復古極具日式和風品味的建築物；外觀採用鐵平石亂片貼砌而成，內部採木質建材設計，舒適而不失溫馨，它是您在旅途中值得停留的驛站。

之所以取北極星–星星家；有感於人類的渺小猶如浩瀚宇宙裡眾多的星宿，而北極星是北方相當明亮的星星，它曾是許多遊牧民族判定方向的重要指標。如果您遠離塵囂來到東部迴瀾淨土，北極星–星星家一如廣大無垠的宇宙，讓”星緣”將您、我從凡塵中喚醒，而且註定在此落腳，延續前世的承諾而不再燎記……！

北極星–星星家，屋前屋後各有二株樹齡超過一甲子的大葉欖仁，俗名叫枇杷樹或稱古巴梯斯樹：可是，2005年殘忍的龍王颱風硬是截枝摧毀其一身綠意，勤勞的園丁重新栽植黃蟬，如今已爬滿大葉欖仁的枯幹上，又恢復了生機，目前棲息了一隻留鳥–鳳頭蒼鷹，正以烔烔有神銳利的眼睛注意是否有遠來的訪客蒞臨。停佇在矮牆的維鳥們，正昂首哼著「拜訪春天」的旋律，歡迎您們的到來。

屋內！有為冬天蒞臨的旅客準備溫聲的壁爐，以溫暖您在旅途中的疲憊！當天候不良的時候，我們將天上的星宿邀請來到日式和風建築小屋，陪伴您品茗淺酌、談天說地，直到睡神降臨為止。

右側獨立建築屋簷下住著一對貓頭鷹，牠們將在夜幕低垂，滿天星斗的夜晚，在您熟睡時，為您守夜，不讓位何事物打擾您們。讓您們在夢境中探險，一如魔戒三部曲中，充然快樂的驚奇！至於那一對白鴿此刻也將陪您們安寢直到東邊的啟明星為朝陽的光芒遮掩為止。

The Polaris—The House of Stars

The Polaris—The House of Stars— is located in a cultural and educational area along the coast of Hualien!  The house is a Japanese –style building with an oblique roof and a retro look.  The exterior is laid with Limestone rocks and the interior is decorated with wood.  The house is very comfortable and warm, making it the best place to stay for nights on your trip.  

We have named the house ”The Polaris” because we think humans are as small as the little stars in the big cosmos.  The Polaris is the brightest star in the North and it has been an important guide for many nomadic tribes to tell directions.  If you want to be far from mundanity and noise, please come to the “pure land” of Hualien.  The Polaris is just like the boundless cosmos and can awaken us from mundanity.  Surely staying here is our destiny, and an experience we will never forget!

The Polaris has two Terminalia Catappa L. trees, which are over 60 years old, and their common name is India Almond or loquat tree.  But the cruel Longwong typhoon of 2005 broke the trunks of the two trees, damaging them seriously.  Fortunately, the hardworking gardener has planted Oleander Allamanda flowers, which have crawled along the India Almond trees.  Now the garden is reviving again.  These days, a bird Crested Goshawk notices with bright and piercing eyes all the guests coming here.  The sparrows sitting on the low wall are singing the rhythm “Visiting the Spring” to welcome you. 

Inside the house, during the winter we will prepare a warm fireplace for our guests to relieve the fatigue of your trip!  When the weather is bad, we will invite the stars in the sky to our Japanese style cabin and they will stay with you to drink tea and chat until you fall asleep. 

A couple of owls live under the eaves of the right independent building.  As night falls and you are asleep, they will watch the starlit sky and won’t let anything disturb you.  Your dreams will be filled with adventures, happiness and surprise just like The Lord of the Rings.  A pair of white doves will accompany you to sleep until the east stars are covered by the light of the rising sun.
